Hi, I’m Jess! 👋🏻

Welcome to my blog!

I am a wife, a mama, and a writer. I am a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), Children’s Book Insider, and the Academy of American Poets. I’m also a past member of Julie Hedlund’s 12×12 Picture Book Challenge, Storyteller Academy, and Rate Your Story.

I’ve been published twice in Chicken Soup for the Soul, as well as The Poetry Pea online journal and podcast, and Highlights High Five magazine. I participate in an active critique group, and along with my wonderful critique partners, I co-host the #KidLitVibes writing contest. I hold an English degree, with minors in both Spanish and Communication Studies, from West Virginia University.

I live in sunny Florida with my husband, son, two rescue cats, dozens of lizards scurrying around outside, and a couple of gators in our backyard pond.
